This is a course with a credit value of 6, designed to provide hands-on research experience in plant breeding. Over six months, students will conduct an independent research project, applying theoretical knowledge and technical skills to solve real-world challenges in plant breeding and crop improvement.

This Course will enable you to gain technical skills in both conventional and modern plant breeding methods. Conventional techniques include emasculation in rice and legumes, pollen collection and storage, artificial hand pollination, and propagation of vegetative and clonal crops. Modern methods cover in vitro culture, micropropagation, embryo rescue, anther culture, cryopreservation, somaclonal variation, protoplast fusion, molecular biology applications, and in vitro germplasm conservation for crop improvement.
