This course will have 3 credits (out of 30 credits) of academic value which means that you need to spend about 150 hrs. of study time. Food science blends the two basic sciences Chemistry and Biology and aims to understand food from a scientific perspective. In this course, you will study some selected topics covering some essential principles necessary to understand the contents of Diploma in Food Science. 

This course will have 3 credits (out of 30 credits) of academic value which means that you need to spend about 150 hrs. of study time. Food microbiology comprehends the study of microorganisms that colonise, modify, and process, or contaminate and spoil food. In this course, you will study some selected topics covering food microbiology and food spoilage.

This course will have 2 credits (out of 30 credits) of academic value which means that you need to spend about 100 hrs. of study time. In this course you will be introduced to basic mathematics and basic statistics needed for learning food science and its applications. 


This course will explore the science of food and its constituents through an understanding of fundamentals in Chemistry and Biology. This is a course with six credits of academic value. This means that you need to spend about 300 hrs. of study time. The course consists of 32 study sessions and will be delivered through six units.
