This is a compulsory course in the first year and credit weightage of this subject is 4. The students can learn the medico-legal system in Sri Lanka and the duties of the doctor practicing forensic medicine and understand the medico-legal procedures and the duties performed by forensic pathologists as a team member in the administration of justice by completing this course. In addition to that students will understand the application of the principles of law to obtain relevant evidence from medico-legal documents to ensure effective leading and cross-examination of medical witnesses in court. This course is a very significant and interesting course that helps to understand the connection of the medical and legal profession.
